Games can be frustrating. I’ve been experiencing it these last few days firsthand with an abominably cheating artificial opponent in StarDrive and endless loops in Remember Me. However, I’ve never been inclined to destroy my equipment over it; close, but not completely.
Today on Reddit, user narwalseal97 expressed a similar feeling on r/gaming, where they proposed they have never broken a controller. Some agreed, but the FIFA crowd chimed in with different thoughts. What followed was a stream of frustrated people recounting several lost accessories, with quotes like “I broke 3 controllers in one semester,” “Take my controller destroy my table with it” or “Since FIFA 09 I’ve had 2 controller casualties.”
It looks like some of us need to work on our anger issues. Here’s my method: I shut down the game, curse more than any person should in a complete lifetime in just 5 minutes time and have a coffee, then go look at funny cat pictures. It’s highly therapeutic. Don’t do this with the latest Pro Evolution Soccer too, ok? Just walk away; it’s not worth it.
Today on Reddit, actress Ellen Page participated in a Q&A on the website’s r/IAmA section, which lead to inevitable gaming questions, given that she appears in Beyond: Two Souls.
She fielded these questions under the moniker iamatinycanadian. When user MozeoSLT asked her about her thoughts of Ellie’s character in another PS3 exclusive called The Last Of Us, Page had some choice words. She’s quoted saying: “I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated.” She professed her love for Sega in another question, saying: “I had Sega Genesis and was a HUGE Sonic fan.”
Since developer Naughty Dog had to struggle to keep Ellie on the front cover of The Last of Us, perhaps the immediate image recognition is a factor. However, it’s doubtful that there’s any ill intent involved. Development cycles are long; they probably just didn’t know Ellen Page would star in a game, movie, interactive novel…thing at the same time.
We run a site without a censorship policy, at least what content is concerned. If it’s in any way or form interesting to readers, we’ll publish it. Now, we know we won’t always please everyone and sometimes we’ll even upset some, for whom we can only say that it is never in our intention to do so. We understand not all content is appealing to everyone and we respect everyone’s choices in life, whatever they may be. As you may guess from that introduction, the following post contains things that may be awesome for some, but not for others. We won’t blame you for looking away; in fact, please do if anything makes you uncomfortable. You’ve been warned.
Today on Reddit, user F1ower lobbed a strange picture into r/NSFW_gif, which is a subreddit dedicated for adult content. The picture shown featured Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite in a steamy scene. More so than just the jiggling though, this fan art, commonly known as “rule 34” on the internet, impressed us with how polished it was, certainly given the nature of the oft crude representations.
This looks more like how an actual game would present a sex scene, if it didn’t need to squirm away to get rated for public use. A link to a Tumblr account showed even more of these expertly produced sex scenes; some more graphic than others. If you’d like to see this practice done right, we’ve collected the best ones, featuring characters like Shepard from Mass Effect or Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. We’ll place these pictures credited to that account below. Since we understand that you may have opted to click this link by accident and don’t want to immediately confronted with (virtual) nudity, we’ve placed all moving .gif pictures behind a thumbnail for you. You won’t have to damage your childhood and/or magical adventures if you don’t want to.
Well, snap, I have so much to do these days that I forgot to post some awesome content today. Never fear, I got a doozy for tomorrow. However, seeing it’s 1AM and I need sleep for survival, why not take a lazy browse through Reddit instead?
Today on Reddit, user Albino-Zebra posted their take on a recent video teaser for the Playstation 4 console in the r/gaming category. Sony masterfully released this clip just moments before Microsoft holds its own event for the new Xbox. That’s the kind of tomfoolery we enjoy seeing. None of that “more city, less ville” crap; Sony keeps it classy with just great timing and no direct punches dealt.
Below, you can see what the result is, plus what inspiration was taken to come up with the mockup shot of the console. We’ll need to wait to see just how correct they were.
Welcome to the first edition of our “Today on Reddit” section. As with our “Cut From the Team” segment that looks back at trailers you may have missed, we’re always looking for new ways to bring you recurring content for you to come back to periodically. These Reddit articles will point out lazy content publishing of news outlets that browse Reddit, like the rest of us, to post top posts for the drainage of hits that would otherwise stay on Reddit. We all go there, so why not let the content stay there, unless it’s something absolutely exceptional, such as for instance the Guild Wars 2 thread where ArenaNet themselves explained how it was treating banning processes. Not every top post needs to filter through to other outlets; that’s why Reddit exists and has specific subscriptions.
And before you ask: Yes, we’re completely aware we’re doing the same thing, but here there are absolutely 0 pretenses. There is a full disclosure from the start to what the aim of these low value items is and we’ll do our best to fix the following disclaimer to each post:
Today on Reddit, user darkdeus showed off how great the addition of the classic System Shock 2 on Steam is, by providing some mod screenshots of the game. With a few dozen mods, this first person PC game can still measure up to modern titles and that for a game released in 1999.
We’ll post some of these pictures here, but you can dive into the r/gaming thread for all details. Additionally, some users were courteous enough to package all mods into some download packages. We’ll put these below
