Bethesda will produce a new Wolfenstein game. In full, this new chapter is called Wolfenstein: the New Order. It is expected to release at the end of the year and will come to PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and next generation consoles. Sadly, no Wii U version is planned in the announcement.
Not a lot of information is known at the time, but we do know that the shooter is being made by MachineGames, who are made of members from Starbreeze Studios. These people have worked on the Chronicles of Riddick series, as well as The Darkness franchise. They’ll be using id Software’s id Tech 5 engine to produce the title. It was previously used to produce Rage in 2011 and is now used for horror survival game The Evil Within. Additionally, the story of Wolfenstein will take place in 1960. It comes with a fun disclaimer at the bottom of the press release:
“The story and contents of this game are not intended to and should not be construed in any way to condone, glorify or endorse the beliefs, ideologies, events, actions, persons or behavior of the Nazi regime or to trivialize its war crimes, genocide, and other crimes against humanity.”
