So, I’m going to plug one more awesome free download, since Tales of Xillia just arrived in my review queue and that’s going to kill the discovery for a bit. If you’ve missed it, check out the physics puzzler Cubicity, the free racer Race.a.bit and a prototype build for the DwarfCorp sim.
Today, we’ll take a look at Tom vs. the Armies of Hell. In this isometric shooter, you’ll run through the office trying to fend of demon spawn of all kinds, with a set of flashy guns. Aside from some damn impressive visuals for an indie project, it will also incorporate boss fights against giant beasts, power ups and a strange story where the devil himself loses Hell in a divorce. It will also be possible to upgrade weapons, unlock others and so on. There’s a demo out now to test it out.
Unfortunately, by the time I checked it out, the developer cancelled a struggling Kickstarter for it, but it’s coming back, so keep an eye out. Some of their credentials are pretty impressive, with work on the new Tomb Raider game, as well as visual FX for major flicks like Pacific Rim.
