The Walking Dead Covers Nirvana’s “In The Pines” In Video And Offers Free Download

Developer Telltale Games has released a new trailer for The Walking Dead, which has inside of it their rendition of “In The Pines,” which is known for its appearance on Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged performance. You’ll be able to see some of the events that land Clementine in a new household at the start of Season 2, plus some things that happen during Episode 2: A House Divided.

This track appears during the credits of Episode 2, continuing a string we expect will last the full season through. In addition, Telltale has allowed this song to be downloaded for free in its full version. It has an elongated orchestrated arrangement you might appreciate as well.

There are some multi-talented people in the developer’s quarters. Alongside composer Jared Emerson-Johnson, the track is sung by Janel Dewis, which works in animation for The Walking Dead series.

And yes, we are aware that the roots of the song go back much further than that and it has been performed by the likes of Lead Belly before Nirvana. We’re pretty sure the quintessential version stands with Kurt’s final oeuvre though. Were you on your way here to type that? If so, sorry to burst that bubble.
