After being available to us Western regions for a while now, Guild Wars 2 will start an Open Beta in China on May 15, 2014. Preorders for the game have started there now, which will additionally allow buyers to access the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game on April 30, two weeks before the rest of the populace.
There are four editions for Guild Wars 2 preorders, all set in Renminbi (RMB), the currency for China. We’ll list them below
- Digital Edition – 88 RMB
- Physical Edition – 158 RMB
- Revolutionary Edition – 198 RMB
- Collector’s Edition – 698 RMB
While the limitation for the collector item at 10,000 copies is logical, Guild Wars 2 will also be putting a finite amount on digital copies during preorders. Then again, maybe the 500,000 available digital purchases will do.
Guild Wars 2 is the first of its kind to appear in China. There, the MMO model is dominated by free-to-play and subscription systems. It’s also the first country in Asia to welcome the popular title from NCsoft.
