Cups floweth over this weekend, as there’s nowhere to turn without stumbling on great Steam game deals. Funnily enough, there’s even a ton of overlap for RPG Maker, which is resorting to throwing copies out the door.
First up, go download a Steam copy for free right now, because Valve’s digital distribution platform is holding an unprecedented free weekend for the development software. It only sets you back a little shy over 200Mb of download space, unlike the doubled up Payday 2 free weekend that requires nearly a 30Gb download. Feel free to go download that as well though; it’s killer.
Despite Steam’s best efforts to combine the RPG Maker free weekend with a generous 75% discount, putting the game at just €15, it’s doubtful many units will be shipped there. Enter the Humble Weekly Bundle that features, you guessed it, RPG Maker. We normally hold gameplay streams for this sort of thing, but we wanted to catch you before you went to Steam this weekend.
On the Humble site, RPG Maker VX Ace is in the very first tier for just $1, along with a bunch of downloadable content (DLC) and even two more games. Pay $6 and you get even more DLC and even more games, including the golden child of RPG Maker, To The Moon. If you’re a sweetheart and pay more than $12, which isn’t even the price for the basic thing on Steam right now, you’ll receive the fullest amounts of assets, as well as Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal’s Realm.
We’re really excited about this one. It’s such a great facilitating tool for aspiring developers and now it’s going to be spread around like wildfire. There might be an influx of terrible games that spawn from it, but it’s also going to lead to original gems. Bring it!
