Not content with the Remote Play functionality for Playstation 4 as it is now, some users have taken the connection to a new level. Through some workarounds, it’s possible to run a PS4 remotely through any PC setup.
In a r/PS4 thread on Reddit, some guidelines were posted to let Remote Play work through Bluestacks or Andy. Both are Android emulators that allow for mobile features to be run on PC. You’ll need either one of those to get started, if you’d like to try this one out, so figure out which one is the best option for you.
From there, you’ll need to install an .apk, (updated link) which are the basic install packages for Android. There’s also a workaround provided to get the Dualshock 4 controller working, though it is reported to be a work in progress thing right now. There’s also a tweak provided for the Sixaxxis controller app.
Again, this is just people trying to sort it out, so it’s more of a technical item to be impressed by than it is something that will work for sure. There is, however, also a compatibility list provided of people who have run the Remote Play through their device.
This is mostly handy for those who want to continue progress on their PS4 game while in transit. You’ll need to keep the console on while you’re out, but the tradeoff is that your quest doesn’t need to be hindered by dumb things like actual employment or adult responsibilities. You need to know where your priorities stand. We hope it stands with getting that last trophy you really, really need.
