Developer Studio Wildcard has announced that their game, ARK: Survival Evolved, will release on Steam through Early Access this June 2. Moreover, people who previously purchased dino title,The Stomping Land, will receive a small trinket for their trouble. With this gesture, the company wants to lessen the burden of those who were left feeling duped by the latter’s dwindling.
The Stomping Land’s current claim to fame is how a game in Early Access with a successful Kickstarter behind it and thousands of copies sold suddenly went silent. Worse yet, people on the project have stated to have left for direct competitors, as games like ARK: Survival Evolved that pitch a survival game with dinosaurs aren’t a unique thing on Steam. Beasts of Prey is also there and currently more active.
ARK: Survival Evolved will give The Stomping Land owners some cool shades, which can be worn by a Tyrannosaurus Rex whilst you’re riding it. That’s not a joke; there’s a shot to go with that thought.
With Unreal Engine 4 backing it up, ARK: Survival Evolved already looks above and beyond The Stomping Land with some shiny textures. More importantly, the announcement trailer is filled with differing activities to do in this prehistoric world. There’s the usual crafting, building and so forth, but it’s equally possible to ride a pterodactyl. Again, not a joke; it’s totally real. There will be around 70 sorts of dinosaurs to tame. If this doesn’t eventually get a Dino Riders mod, we would consider it a failure on all fronts.
Aside from its release on PC through Steam, ARK: Survival Evolved will also make its way to consoles, for both Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Moreover, there are plans to have virtual reality support for Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus. It sounds really elaborate and as nice as it is to get caught up in the hype, look to the above examples to know what can happen when hypes get big.
